Reflection
I was extremely surprised about how much I didn't know about the civil rights movement in Milwaukee. The fact that I've lived here my whole life and I've never even heard of some of the great or horrible things that have happened here. Milwuakee used to be extremely segregated, and it still is today. But, because of the movement in Milwaukee those few African Americans living in the "white areas", or those few white people living in the "black areas" does make a difference. Mary Kelly tought me a lot during this interview and I don't feel like I could have chosen a better person for this topic. She was involved in about 100 marches and became close friends with some of the main activists, like Father Groppi. Without this movement Milwaukee would be a different place. I know that Mary Kelly is good person, so that must mean all the thousands of people that marched with here were good people too.
